The Filter Neow — applications under parental control
The Filter Neow is the security layer built into the heart of Android. This is not an application added after the fact: it is integrated into the operating system and cannot be uninstalled, deactivated, or bypassed by reset.
It is the parent who decides which applications are accessible, by adding or removing them from their dedicated space. No automatism linked to age: it is a parental decision, at any time.
The Filter Neow provides four additional levels of protection:
- Whitelist — only applications explicitly authorized by parents are accessible, regardless of the age declared in the Google account. This prevents false age declarations and maintains parental controls even after 15 years if necessary.
- Blacklist — certain categories of applications are blocked by default to reinforce security: social networks, search engines, dating applications, sports betting, gambling, adult content.
- Dedicated administration portal — managed with a password different from the parent Google account, to prevent access to the Google account from compromising parental controls.
- System level crash — Android vulnerabilities allowing the installation of applications outside the usual circuit (external APKs, secondary accounts) are blocked at the base of the operating system.
In the event of a complete reset, the phone restarts in secure mode: without internet access, without an account. Only a parent can re-enroll the device.

Family Link — screen time and geolocation
NEOW Kids works with Google Family Link, Google's parental supervision application. Here's how it works on any Android phone:
- Access to Play Store apps requires a Google account.
- If the age declared in the account is less than 15 years old, Android automatically triggers a supervision request via Family Link — an adult Google account is required to validate the start-up.
- Family Link then allows you to manage screen time, approve installations, geolocate the device and access various parental controls.
- Family Link also limits the selection of available applications to the PEGI (age rating) filter.
- From 15 years old, the teenager can deactivate geolocation or all Family Link parental controls on their own.
This is precisely where the Filter comes in. Neow in addition: where Family Link loses its hold at 15 years, the Filter Neow maintains whitelist and blacklist of applications, regardless of declared age or user actions.
The two systems are compatible and complementary. Family Link manages screen time and geolocation. The Filter Neow manages applications. Together, they cover all uses.
Signing in to a Google account is not required. Without a Google account, NEOW works like a simple phone: calls, messages and camera — without internet access or third-party applications.

Why NEOW rather than a classic smartphone with parental controls?
Parental controls added to an adult smartphone can be bypassed — reset, secondary account, external APK. The Filter Neow is integrated at the system level: it does not uninstall or deactivate. And unlike Family Link alone, it remains active after 15 years as long as the parent does not decide to relax it.
